According to Ayurveda congestive heart failure is known as hridya avrodh. Origin of the channel of rasa dhatu is considered to be from heart. Rasa dhatu is one of the seven tissues of body and formed after the digestion of food. Improper eating habits, mental stress and weakened digestive fire results in the production of toxins (ama). These toxins result in vitiation of rasa dhatu. These toxins (ama) accumulate in the heart and form the blockages in the channels, which results in the congestive heart failure.
